Kartell describe it as bringing "a flawlessly fresh look" with clean lines, and it is the crispest shape in the brassware catalogue: a good match for square sanitaryware and a room with straight edges elsewhere.

This is the mono basin mixer, supplied complete with a matching chrome click waste — worth noting, because most basin mixers do not include one and it is an easy extra to forget when you are pricing up a basin.

What flow will I actually get?

Kartell publish figures for this tap across the full pressure range:

Pressure

Flow

0.2 bar

6.0 l/min

0.5 bar

8.3 l/min

1.0 bar

11.0 l/min

2.0 bar

15.6 l/min

3.0 bar

19.0 l/min

A basin tap starts to feel comfortable at around 6 litres a minute, and this one is there at 0.2 bar — the lowest pressure it is rated for. That makes it a sound choice on gravity-fed plumbing, where plenty of taps disappoint.

Before you order

This is a single lever mono, so your basin needs one tap hole. It will not fit a basin drilled for separate hot and cold taps.

The tap stands 135mm tall on a 49mm square base, with the spout reaching 90mm out over the bowl and sitting 105mm above the basin surface. Measure that 90mm against the distance from your tap hole to the middle of the bowl — a blade spout puts out a wide flat stream, which shows up splashing sooner than a round jet does in a shallow basin.

Water pressure

Kartell rate this tap suitable for low water pressure systems — it will run from as little as 0.2 bar. That means it works on a gravity-fed tank and cylinder as well as on mains, combi or unvented pressure.

Living with it

The ceramic disc cartridge with quarter-turn operation gives full flow from a small movement of the lever, and is far less prone to dripping than a washer tap.

Polished chrome wipes clean with a soft damp cloth, though a squared shape gives limescale more corners to settle into than a round one, so in a hard water area it pays to dry it off. What chrome will not take is abrasives: cream cleaners, scouring pads and strong limescale removers cut through the plating, and once it has gone dull it cannot be brought back.

The rest of the Element range

The range also includes a bath filler and a bath shower mixer.

Specification

Code: TAP060EMJ

Polished chrome, gloss finish

Solid brass construction

Squared body with flat blade spout

Ceramic disc cartridge, quarter turn operation

Single lever, deck mounted, one tap hole

Matching chrome click waste included

1/2" BSP flexi hose connections

Suitable for low water pressure systems, from 0.2 bar

Flow 11 l/min at 1 bar

Height 135mm, spout height 105mm, spout projection 90mm

49mm square base

Weight 0.86kg

Manufactured to BS EN 200

Fixings supplied

Lifetime guarantee (1 year on moving parts)

Barcode 5055681449773

Downloads

Download the technical data sheet

https://www.keywestbathrooms.co.uk/products/kartell-k-vit-element-mono-basin-mixer-with-click-waste-chrome-tap060emj
