Bath Shower Mixer Taps

A bath shower mixer fills the bath and feeds a handheld shower from the same tap, with a diverter to switch between them. In a bathroom with no separate shower it does both jobs from one fitting.

Tap holes

Most deck-mounted bath shower mixers need two tap holes at standard 180mm centres. Some are single-hole monobloc designs. Check your bath's drilling before ordering — holes cannot be added to an acrylic bath neatly, and cannot be filled at all.

Water pressure

This is the common disappointment. A bath shower mixer on a low-pressure gravity system gives a weak shower, because the handset relies on whatever pressure reaches the tap. If you are on a tank-fed system, check the tap's minimum pressure requirement, and consider a pump.

Thermostatic options

Standard mixers adjust by hand and will run hot if a tap is used elsewhere. A thermostatic version holds temperature — worth having where children or less mobile users bathe.
