An offset quadrant has one curved corner like a standard quadrant, but unequal sides — typically 1200mm by 800mm rather than square. That extra length gives noticeably more showering room while the curve still softens the corner.
Why offset rather than square
A standard 900x900mm quadrant is compact but tight. An offset gives you the length of a rectangular enclosure with the space-saving curve where it meets the room, which is usually the best compromise in a medium-sized bathroom.
Handing
Offset quadrants are handed and cannot be reversed. Stand facing the corner where it will go: if the longer side runs to your left, you need a left hand enclosure. Check this against the tray you are buying, since the two must match.
Matching the tray
The enclosure and tray must be the same size and the same handing. An offset quadrant tray has a specific radius on the curve, and enclosures are made to match it — mixing brands here is risky. See our offset quadrant shower trays.
Measuring
Measure both wall runs from the corner, at floor level. Allow for out-of-plumb walls; most enclosures include 20-25mm of adjustment.
