A double ended bath slopes at both ends with the taps and waste in the middle, so two people can bathe facing each other — or one person can lie comfortably at either end.
Space requirements
Double ended baths tend to be wider than single ended, so check the floor area carefully. They are usually best positioned along a wall with space at both ends, or as a centrepiece with room to walk around. In a tight alcove a single ended bath is the more practical choice.
Tap position
The central waste means taps mount in the middle of the long side, on the rim or on the wall behind. If your existing pipework feeds one end, expect to move it. Some models have no tap holes at all, expecting a freestanding or wall mounted tap — check before ordering.
Comfort
The symmetrical shape means no fixed head end, which suits couples and gives more usable length than the same size single ended bath. The trade-off is that the central taps sit where you might otherwise want to stretch out.
You will also need a bath panel and a waste.
