A bath screen keeps shower spray inside the bath. It replaces a curtain with something easier to clean, harder to knock and considerably better looking.
Choosing a type
- Fixed panels — a single sheet of glass, simplest and most rigid. Fine where you do not need to reach past it to clean the bath.
- Hinged screens — swing back against the wall so you can lean over the bath without the glass in the way.
- Folding screens — two or three panels that concertina, giving the widest coverage while folding compactly. The usual choice on a shower bath.
Match the profile
If you have a shaped shower bath, the screen must follow it. L shaped and square baths take a square-profile screen; P-shaped baths take a curved one. They are also handed — check which end the screen fits.
Glass and seals
6mm is standard, 8mm feels more solid. The seal where the screen meets the bath rim does the real work — check it is a proper wiper seal rather than a token strip, since that joint is where leaks start.
Fitting
Screens fix to the wall, so tiles must be sound and the wall behind solid. Silicone the bath-to-screen joint properly and let it cure fully before using the shower.
