WC Units

A WC unit is a furniture cabinet that houses the cistern behind a back to wall toilet pan, giving a flush, tidy front instead of exposed pipework. Pair it with a matching vanity unit and the bathroom reads as one coordinated run.

What it does and does not include

A WC unit is furniture only. You will separately need a back to wall pan, a concealed cistern, a flush plate and usually a seat. Some units include the cistern — check the product page rather than assuming.

Sizing and depth

Most WC units are 500mm or 600mm wide. Depth is the measurement that catches people out: the unit plus the pan projecting in front of it can eat 800mm or more from the wall. Measure the room before committing, particularly in a cloakroom.

Access

Make sure the flush plate aperture allows the cistern valve to be reached for servicing. A cistern sealed behind fixed panelling will eventually need attention, and you do not want that to mean dismantling furniture.

Matching

Finishes are shared across most furniture ranges, so a WC unit can be matched to floor standing or wall hung vanity units and tall storage from the same range.
