Bi-Fold Shower Screens

A bi-fold shower door folds inwards on itself as it opens, rather than swinging out into the room. That makes it the go-to choice for a small bathroom where a pivot or hinged door would clash with a basin, toilet or the bathroom door itself.

Choosing a width

Widths run from 700mm to 1000mm, measured as the opening the door fits into. Measure at three heights — top, middle and bottom — and work from the smallest figure, as very few walls are truly plumb. Most doors include an adjustment profile of 20-25mm to absorb the difference.

Glass thickness

6mm is the standard specification and perfectly adequate for domestic use. 8mm feels appreciably more solid, sits in a heavier frame and tends to have better seals. All our shower glass is toughened safety glass.

Look for an easy-clean coating if you are in a hard water area — it will not stop limescale, but it makes wiping down considerably quicker.

What else you need

A door needs a tray beneath it. Match the door width to your rectangular or square tray, and add a side panel if you are enclosing a corner rather than an alcove.
