Kartell K-VIT Basin Flip Top Waste – Chrome (WAS005)

A flip top waste: the top plate pivots on a central spindle, so you tip it one way to close the basin and the other way to open it. Simple, quick, and there is no spring to wear out.

It sits flatter in the bowl than a click waste and is easier to operate with a knuckle or the back of a hand, which some people prefer.

This one is slotted, so your basin needs an overflow hole.

Slotted or unslotted — get this right

This is the one thing people order wrong, and it causes either a leak or a basin that will not drain properly.

• A slotted waste has an opening in the side of the body. It is for a basin with an overflow hole — the small hole near the top of the bowl. The slot lets the overflow drain through the waste.
• An unslotted waste has a solid body and no opening. It is for a basin with no overflow — most countertop bowls, and many modern designer basins.

Fit an unslotted waste to a basin that has an overflow and the overflow cannot escape. Fit a slotted waste to a basin with no overflow and water finds its way out through the slot. Look into your basin before you order.

Finish and looking after it

Polished chrome needs nothing more than a wipe with a soft damp cloth. Keep abrasive cleaners and strong limescale removers away from it — both cut through the plating.
