Muted olive green with a rustic matt glaze, on a 38x235mm ceramic finger tile. The green is soft and greyed rather than bright, with the slightly uneven, aged surface of a handmade tile, so it sits comfortably with timber, cream and brass in a kitchen or bathroom.

The stick format is normally stacked vertically to give fine lines up the wall, though horizontal or herringbone layouts work too. It suits a basin splashback, a shower wall, a kitchen upstand or a band of colour within the white matt tile from the same range. For interior walls only.

A matt ceramic glaze is easy to clean and does not reflect light, which keeps the olive soft. Tiles vary slightly by design. Each box of 50 covers 0.45 square metres, so measure the wall and round up to full boxes.

Working out how many boxes

Measure the wall or floor in square metres, add 10% for cuts and breakages, divide by 0.45 and round up to the next whole box. Order everything you need in one go – shade can vary a little between production batches, and buying all your boxes together keeps the whole area from the same run.

Fitting notes

For walls only. Use a flexible wall adhesive and a fine-notched trowel, keeping the bed thin so adhesive does not fill the 1-2mm joints. Draw vertical guide lines first; narrow tiles show any drift. A grey or sage grout blends with the olive. Clean grout from the matt face as you go. Mix tiles from more than one box.
