Carron Arc Single Ended Bath – White Gloss (All Sizes)

Carron Arc Single Ended Bath – White Gloss (All Sizes)

The Carron Arc is a single ended bath with a softly rounded bathing end – curved inside rather than squared off, so there are no hard corners to sit against. It comes in three sizes, including a wider, deeper 1700 x 750mm, and each can be had with or without a pair of chrome twin hand grips.

Every size comes in two finishes: Carron's standard 5mm acrylic, with a 30-year warranty, or Carronite, Carron's reinforced finish, with a 40-year warranty. Both are made in Britain by Carron, whose manufacturing history goes back to 1759.

Key features

• Rounded bathing end for a comfortable, softer shape
• Three sizes – 1500 x 700, 1700 x 700 and 1700 x 750mm
• 150 to 195 litres, 400 or 420mm deep
• Optional chrome twin hand grips, one on each side
• Two finishes – 5mm acrylic or Carronite
• Fully encapsulated baseboard and timber reinforcement under the rim for strength when bathing or showering
• Made in Britain, with a 30 or 40-year warranty depending on finish

5mm acrylic or Carronite?

Each size is the same shape in either finish. Carronite is the one to choose if you want the extra rigidity – useful if the bath will double as a shower – and a bath that stays warm for longer.

Choose your size

Each size is made slightly under its nominal length and width, so it drops into a standard recess with a little room to spare. The 1700 x 750mm is 50mm wider and 20mm deeper than the 1700 x 700mm, adding 23 litres – but it sits taller and takes its own 540mm panels.

Specification (all sizes)

Panels for the Arc

Panels are sold separately, in standard and Carronite finishes. Note that the 1700 x 750mm sits at 540mm rather than 515mm, so it needs the taller panels.

Codes are shown as standard / Carronite. You only need the end panel if one end of the bath is open, as in a corner layout; a bath fitted into an alcove between two walls needs the front panel alone.

Before you order

• Measure the recess at the back, the middle and the front. Walls are rarely square, and the bath has to fit the narrowest measurement.
• Decide on the grips before you order. They are moulded into the bath rather than added afterwards, so a bath without grips cannot be changed later.
• Check the route in. Up to 1690mm long, the bath has to pass through doorways, round landings and up the stairs – measure any tight turn before delivery day.
• Taps, waste and panels are sold separately.
• Think about the floor. Full to capacity, an Arc holds between 150 and 195kg of water before anyone gets in, so the floor underneath needs to be sound.

Fitting tips

Install the bath with Carron's installation kit, levelled so the rim sits at the height its panels are made to – 515mm, or 540mm for the 1700 x 750mm. Fill the bath with water before running the silicone seal along the walls, so the joint cures with the bath at its heaviest and won't pull away the first time someone gets in.
