Carron Axis Single Ended Bath – White Gloss (All Sizes)

The Carron Axis is a low-level single ended bath. At 430mm to the rim it sits noticeably lower than a standard bath, so there is less to step over getting in and out – useful in a family bathroom, and worth considering for anyone who finds a high-sided bath awkward. It comes in four lengths from 1500 to 1700mm, all 700mm wide, with or without a pair of chrome twin hand grips.

Every size comes in two finishes: Carron's standard 5mm acrylic, with a 30-year warranty, or Carronite, Carron's reinforced finish, with a 40-year warranty. Both are made in Britain by Carron, whose manufacturing history goes back to 1759.

5mm acrylic or Carronite?

Each size is the same shape in either finish. Carronite is the one to choose if you want the extra rigidity – useful if the bath will double as a shower – and a bath that stays warm for longer.

Choose your size

The Axis is made to its full nominal length, so in a recess measuring exactly 1500, 1600, 1650 or 1700mm it will be a tight fit – measure carefully.

Panels for the Axis

The Axis sits at 430mm, so it takes Carron's 430mm-high panels rather than the 515 or 540mm panels used on their standard-height baths. Panels are sold separately, in standard and Carronite finishes.

Codes are shown as standard / Carronite. You only need the end panel if one end of the bath is open, as in a corner layout; a bath fitted into an alcove between two walls needs the front panel alone.

Before you order

• Measure the recess at the back, the middle and the front. Walls are rarely square, and the bath has to fit the narrowest measurement.
• Decide on the grips before you order. They are moulded into the bath rather than added afterwards, so a bath without grips cannot be changed later.
• Check the route in. The bath has to pass through doorways, round landings and up the stairs – measure any tight turn before delivery day.
• Taps, waste and panels are sold separately.
• Remember it takes 430mm panels. Standard 515 or 540mm bath panels will stand too tall against an Axis.

Fitting tips

Install the bath with Carron's installation kit, levelled so the rim sits at 430mm – the height its panels are made to. Fill the bath with water before running the silicone seal along the walls, so the joint cures with the bath at its heaviest and won't pull away the first time someone gets in.
