The Carron Monarch is a compact square corner bath – 1300mm along each wall, with a curved front measuring 1820mm across the diagonal. It is the smallest of Carron's corner baths, which makes it the one that actually fits an ordinary family bathroom rather than needing a large one.
At 235 litres and 540mm to the rim it still gives a deep, roomy soak for its footprint. Being symmetrical it has no hand, so there is nothing to get wrong on that front. It comes in Carron's standard 5mm acrylic with a 30-year warranty or Carronite with a 40-year warranty, and is made in Britain by Carron, whose manufacturing history goes back to 1759.

Worth thinking about on a corner bath. A corner bath holds a lot of water over a wide unsupported span, so the extra rigidity of Carronite earns its keep more here than on a standard rectangular bath.

The panel
The Monarch takes the 1300 x 540mm corner bath panel (02304 standard, 02305 Carronite), curved to follow the front of the bath. It is sold separately – match the panel finish to the bath finish.
Before you order
- Measure both walls of the corner, and check the curve clears anything standing near it – a WC, a basin pedestal or a radiator close to the corner will get in the way.
- Remember the diagonal. At 1820mm across the front it takes up more of the room than the 1300mm wall measurements suggest.
- Check the route in. Measure doorways, landings and any turn on the stairs before delivery day.
- Taps, waste and panel are sold separately.
- Think about the floor. Full to capacity the Monarch holds 235kg of water before anyone gets in, and a corner bath puts that load away from the walls where floors are least supported. If you are in any doubt about the joists, ask a builder before it goes in.
Fitting tips
Install the bath with Carron's installation kit, levelled so the rim sits at 540mm – the height its panel is made to. Fill the bath with water before running the silicone seal along the walls, so the joint cures with the bath at its heaviest. Take care getting both wall runs straight: on a corner bath any twist shows up as a gap that is very hard to hide afterwards.
