Kartell K-VIT Logik Bath Shower Mixer – Chrome (TAP041LOJ)

The Kartell K-VIT Logik range is soft-edged and low-slung — an oval body with a wide flat lever laid along the top, so there is very little of it standing proud of the basin. Kartell describe it as "a delicate and understated look, to create a smooth appearance in a tranquil bathroom space", and understated is the word: this is the quietest shape in the brassware catalogue.

This is the bath shower mixer: a deck-mounted bath tap with two rounded lever handles, a diverter and a shower handset on a flexible hose.

What it does

It fills the bath like a normal bath filler, and the diverter sends water to the handset instead — so you can shower over the bath, rinse hair, or clean the bath itself without a separate shower installation.

If you already have a separate shower and only need to fill the bath, the Logik bath filler costs less and looks tidier without the hose — which matters more than usual on a range this understated.

How long will it take to fill a bath?

Kartell's data sheet publishes flow figures across the full pressure range, and on a bath tap they translate straight into waiting time:

This is a strong performer, and unusually so at the bottom of the range. Even at 0.2 bar — the lowest pressure it is rated for — it gives 11.9 litres a minute, where some other Kartell bath taps manage under 4. If you are on gravity-fed plumbing and have been disappointed by a slow bath before, this one is worth a look.

The handset is fed through the same body, so the same pattern applies: a usable spray at low pressure and a proper shower from about 1 bar upwards.

Before you order

This is a two tap hole deck-mounted tap. It measures 218mm across and sits on 180mm tap hole centres, the standard spacing on a British bath — worth measuring yours before you order, because a bath drilled to a different spacing will not take it.

Bath taps use 3/4" BSP connections, larger than the 1/2" on basin taps, so check your existing tails.

The waste is sold separately — unlike the Logik basin mixer, which includes a click waste.

Water pressure

Kartell rate this tap suitable for low water pressure systems — it will run from as little as 0.2 bar. That means it works on a gravity-fed tank and cylinder as well as on mains, combi or unvented pressure.

Living with it

The ceramic disc cartridge with quarter-turn operation gives full flow from a small movement of the lever, and is far less prone to dripping than a washer tap.

Polished chrome on a smooth rounded body is about the easiest thing in a bathroom to keep clean — there are no corners for limescale to lodge in, and a wipe with a soft damp cloth is all it needs. What it will not take is abrasives: cream cleaners, scouring pads and strong limescale removers cut through the plating, and dull chrome cannot be brought back.
