Kartell K-VIT Visage Mini Mono Basin Mixer with Click Waste – Chrome (TAP271VIJ)

Kartell K-VIT Visage Mini Mono Basin Mixer with Click Waste – Chrome (TAP271VIJ)

The Kartell K-VIT Visage range is all soft curves and rounded edges — no hard corners anywhere on it. Kartell describe it as "effortlessly elegant with an air of serenity", and it is the least assertive shape in the brassware catalogue: a classic finishing touch rather than a statement piece. If the rest of the room is doing the talking, these are the taps that will not argue with it.

This is the mini mono basin mixer, the smallest tap in the range, and it comes complete with a matching chrome click waste.

When to choose the mini

A mini basin mixer is shorter in the body and the spout than a standard one. It is meant for a cloakroom basin, a compact vanity unit, or any basin where a full-size tap looks oversized — typically anything under about 450mm wide.

The trade-off is reach. A shorter spout lands water closer to the back of the bowl, so measure from the middle of your tap hole to the middle of the basin before deciding. On a full-size basin the mini will look lost and leave water running down the back; there the standard Visage mono basin mixer is the better proportion.

At 0.69kg it is a light tap, which is what you would expect at this size — the mechanism inside is the same ceramic disc cartridge used across the range.

Water pressure

Kartell rate this tap suitable for low water pressure systems — it will run from as little as 0.2 bar. That means it works on a gravity-fed tank and cylinder as well as on mains, combi or unvented pressure.

That matters more than usual on a cloakroom tap: a downstairs loo is often the furthest point from the hot cylinder and the worst-served outlet in the house.

Living with it

The ceramic disc cartridge with quarter-turn operation gives full flow from a small movement of the lever, and is far less prone to dripping than a washer tap.

Polished chrome on a rounded body is about the easiest thing in a bathroom to keep clean — there are no corners for limescale to lodge in, and a wipe with a soft damp cloth is all it needs. What it will not take is abrasives: cream cleaners, scouring pads and strong limescale removers cut through the plating, and dull chrome cannot be brought back.

The rest of the Visage range

The range also includes a mono basin mixer with click waste, a bath filler and a bath shower mixer.
