Florence Pale Grey in the 300x500mm rectangle. The oblong is the piece that gives a modular floor its randomness, sitting between the two squares, and it also lays well on its own in a staggered bond. Seven tiles to a box cover 1.05m².

Colour is a light, cool grey with the soft variation and gently worn edge of aged stone. It stays pale across the batch rather than drifting dark, and the matt surface keeps it quiet. It is a neutral that works with white, timber and black fittings alike.

The porcelain body suits indoor floors and walls, including kitchens, hallways, bathrooms and conservatories. No sealing is needed and it wipes clean. Run it with the autumn grey for a floor that mixes warm and cool greys.

Working out how many boxes

Measure the wall or floor in square metres, add 10% for cuts and breakages, divide by 1.05 and round up to the next whole box. Order everything you need in one go – shade can vary a little between production batches, and buying all your boxes together keeps the whole area from the same run.

Fitting notes

A flexible porcelain adhesive, applied to the floor and the tile back, gives the support a floor tile needs; on walls, combing the wall alone is enough. Keep joints at 3-5mm and consistent across any mixed sizes. Grout in grey. Blend tiles from more than one box.
