Atlantic is a flat panel designer towel rail from Kartell in textured grey. Instead of round tubes, it has fourteen wide, flat bars (60mm high) on two 38mm round uprights, set in three groups with open gaps between them where folded towels can hang and dry. The flat bars give it a clean, contemporary look.

The textured grey finish has a slightly grainy, matt surface that hides fingerprints and small marks well, and suits modern, industrial or monochrome bathrooms.

Size and heat output

Is it the right size for your room?

At 1185mm tall and 500mm wide, Atlantic suits most family bathrooms and en-suites. If it will be the only heat in the room, check its output against what the room needs – a BTU calculator will give you a figure from the room's size, windows and outside walls. Kartell quote the output at Δt60, a standard test temperature. Many modern boilers, and especially heat pumps, run cooler than that, so the heat you actually get may be lower than the figure shown.

Fitting

Atlantic is supplied with everything needed to fix it to the wall. Valves are sold separately – see our towel radiator valves.

The pipe connections are at the bottom of each upright, 450mm apart (the “tapping centres”). If you are replacing an existing towel rail, measure between your pipes first – if it does not match, the pipework will need adjusting. Atlantic stands 97mm out from the wall to the front of the bars. Make sure the wall can take the weight once the rail is full of water and towels: solid walls are straightforward, but stud and plasterboard walls need suitable heavy-duty fixings or a timber support behind the board.

Looking after the finish

Wipe over with a soft, damp cloth and dry. Avoid abrasive pads, bleach and strong bathroom cleaners, which can dull or mark a textured finish.
