Kartell K-VIT Kolumn Towel Rail – Anthracite (All Sizes)

Kolumn is a dual column towel radiator from Kartell. Its 25mm rails swell out into rounded, column-style sections where they meet the two 38mm uprights, giving it the look of a traditional column radiator in a towel rail shape. The rails are arranged in three groups with two open gaps between them, so towels can be folded over a rail or hung in the gaps to dry. This is the anthracite version; it is also available in White Gloss.

Matt anthracite is a deep charcoal grey that makes the towel rail a feature, and looks especially striking against white or light-coloured tiles.

Both sizes are 500mm wide – choose the height from the dropdown.

Sizes and heat output

Choosing a size

The 832mm version has 13 rails and produces 2818 BTU; the taller 1140mm has 20 rails and gives about half as much heat again at 4268 BTU, with more room for towels.

To check a size is enough for the room, use a BTU calculator, which works out a figure from the room's size, windows and outside walls. Kartell quote the output at Δt60, a standard test temperature. Many modern boilers, and especially heat pumps, run cooler than that, so the heat you actually get may be lower than the figure shown.

Fitting

Kolumn is supplied with everything needed to fix it to the wall. Valves are sold separately – see our towel radiator valves.

The pipe connections are at the bottom of each upright, 425mm apart on both sizes (the “tapping centres”). If you are replacing an existing towel rail, measure the distance between your pipes first – if it does not match, the pipework will need adjusting. The adjustable wall brackets let the rail stand 98–108mm out from the wall, with the pipe connections 63–73mm out from the wall. Kolumn is heavy once full of water, so make sure the wall can take the weight: solid walls are straightforward, but stud and plasterboard walls need suitable heavy-duty fixings or a timber support behind the board.

Looking after the finish

Wipe over with a soft, damp cloth and dry. Avoid abrasive pads, bleach and strong bathroom cleaners, which can dull or scratch the finish.
