L Shaped Shower Bath

An L shaped shower bath widens at one end to give a proper showering area, while keeping a full-length bath. In a bathroom with only room for one or the other, it is the sensible compromise.

Left or right hand?

L shaped baths are handed and cannot be reversed. Stand at the doorway looking in: if the wide showering end is on your left, you need a left hand bath. Check where your taps and waste currently sit, and which end has the wall for a screen.

Sizing

1500mm suits smaller bathrooms; 1700mm is the standard. The wide end is typically around 850mm against 700mm at the tap end, so measure the floor at both — the bath is not a uniform rectangle and a tight alcove may not take the wider section.

What else you need

An L shaped bath needs its own matching front panel, shaped to the profile — a straight panel will not fit. You will also want a bath screen at the wide end, and these are handed too.

Comfort

The widened end gives genuinely usable showering room, unlike a straight bath. The trade-off is that the narrow tap end is less comfortable to lie in than a full-width bath.
