Mono Basin Mixer Taps

A mono basin mixer blends hot and cold in a single body and delivers through one spout, fitted into a single tap hole. It is the standard modern basin tap and the reason most basins are drilled with one hole.

Match to the basin

A mono mixer needs a one tap hole basin. If your basin has two holes you need a separate pillar tap pair instead. Tap holes cannot be added or filled.

Height and reach

Check the spout projection against the bowl. A short spout on a wide basin puts water on the back of the bowl rather than in the middle; a tall spout on a shallow basin splashes. For a countertop basin you need a high rise mixer to clear the raised bowl.

Water pressure

Some mixers need a minimum pressure to work properly, and low-pressure gravity systems can struggle. Check the specification if you have a tank-fed supply.

What to look for

Ceramic disc cartridges last far longer than rubber washers and give the smooth quarter-turn action. A good tap is worth the difference — this is the fitting in the bathroom that gets used most.

Most taps are supplied without a waste, so add one and match the finish.
