A shower outlet elbow is the small fitting where the hose leaves the wall. It covers the pipe entry and gives the hose a neat, sealed connection point. This is the round elbow in brushed nickel.

When you need one

If your shower has a concealed valve feeding a handset on a slide rail, you need an outlet elbow. The valve is buried in the wall, so something has to bring the water out and give the hose somewhere to screw into — that's this.

You don't need one if your slide rail kit has a built-in outlet, or if your only outlet is a fixed overhead head on an arm.

Matching the finish

Brushed nickel is a warm, soft grey — quieter than chrome and cooler than brushed brass. It pairs with the Kolt concealed valve and the Kolt slide rail kit in the same finish.

Worth getting all the brushed nickel pieces from one range if you can. Nickel tone varies between manufacturers more than chrome does, and two slightly different nickels next to each other are noticeable.

Looking after brushed nickel

Brushed finishes hide water spotting better than polished ones, which is one of their advantages in a hard water area. Wipe with warm soapy water and a soft cloth.

Avoid abrasive cleaners and limescale remover — they will scratch through the brushed texture and leave a shiny patch that cannot be blended back in.
