Sold by the box – 2 tiles per box, covering around 1.44m². Each 600x1200mm tile is 0.72m², so a box works out at roughly £68.61 per m² (£49.40 a tile). We only supply full boxes.

Deep black porcelain with a semi-polished surface. The sheen is a satin rather than a mirror, so it lifts the colour and catches light without the glare of a full gloss. In a bathroom it gives a dark, enclosed feel; in a hallway it makes a strong first impression.

The 600x1200mm format keeps grout lines to a minimum, which matters with a black tile because pale joints would break up the colour. Two tiles make up a box and cover 1.44m². Run them vertically on a wall to add height, or stagger them on a floor.

This is a full-bodied porcelain stoneware with rectified edges, made for walls and floors from domestic to commercial use. The manufacturer lists bathrooms, kitchens, conservatories, hallways and living areas as suitable settings. Mix tiles from more than one box across a large floor so any slight tonal shift is spread out.

Working out how many boxes

Measure the wall or floor in square metres, add 10% for cuts and breakages, divide by 1.44 and round up to the next whole box. Order everything you need in one go – shade can vary a little between production batches, and buying all your boxes together keeps the whole area from the same run.

Fitting notes

Large black tiles show adhesive ridges if the bed is uneven, so comb the adhesive in one direction and back-butter the tile for full contact. Choose a dark grout to keep the surface reading as one colour. Joints of 2-3mm suit the rectified edge. Use a flexible porcelain adhesive on both walls and floors.
