Carbon grey in a textured anti-slip finish. The deep charcoal tone hides dirt and the textured face gives grip when wet, so it suits a wet room floor, a level-access shower or a patio. The manufacturer rates this finish for external use as well as indoors.

The 600x600mm square comes three to a box, covering 1.08m². Laid in a straight grid the large format makes a floor look wider. Rectified edges keep joints at 2-3mm, which matters outside where wide joints collect debris.

This is full-bodied porcelain stoneware, so the carbon colour runs through the tile. Suitable settings listed by the manufacturer are bathrooms, kitchens, conservatories, hallways, living areas and external areas. A dark textured floor hides dirt between cleans, which matters on a patio or a busy kitchen floor.

Working out how many boxes

Measure the wall or floor in square metres, add 10% for cuts and breakages, divide by 1.08 and round up to the next whole box. Order everything you need in one go – shade can vary a little between production batches, and buying all your boxes together keeps the whole area from the same run.

Fitting notes

Use a flexible porcelain adhesive on a full solid bed; outdoors use an external-grade adhesive and grout and lay on a base with a fall for drainage. The textured face holds grout, so grout in small sections and sponge off straight away. A 2-3mm joint matches the rectified edge.
