Carron Quantum Double Ended Bath – White Gloss (All Sizes)

Carron Quantum Double Ended Bath – White Gloss (All Sizes)

The Carron Quantum Double Ended has both ends shaped to lie back against and the waste in the middle, so you can bathe facing whichever way suits the room – or share it. It comes in five sizes, from 1700 x 700mm up to a 1900 x 900mm holding 350 litres, the largest bath in the Carron range.

Every size comes in two finishes: Carron's standard 5mm acrylic, with a 30-year warranty, or Carronite, Carron's reinforced finish, with a 40-year warranty. Both are made in Britain by Carron, whose manufacturing history goes back to 1759.

Key features

• Double ended – central waste, with both ends shaped to lie back against
• Five sizes – 1700 to 1900mm long, 700 to 900mm wide
• 165 to 350 litres, 410 to 450mm deep
• Two finishes – 5mm acrylic or Carronite
• Fully encapsulated baseboard and timber reinforcement under the rim for strength when bathing or showering
• Made in Britain, with a 30 or 40-year warranty depending on finish

5mm acrylic or Carronite?

Each size is the same shape in either finish. Carronite is the one to choose if you want the extra rigidity – useful if the bath will double as a shower – and a bath that stays warm for longer.

Choose your size

Each size is made about 8mm under its nominal length and width, so it drops into a standard recess with a little room to spare.

The 1900 x 900mm is the biggest bath Carron make – 350 litres, and a genuine two-person bath. It needs a lot of floor space, a sound floor and enough stored hot water to fill it. It also sits at 570mm, taller than the other sizes, and takes its own panels.

Panels for the Quantum Double Ended

Panels are sold separately, in standard and Carronite finishes. The 700mm-wide size sits at 515mm, the 750 and 800mm sizes at 540mm, and the 1900 x 900mm at 570mm – each needs the matching panel height.

Codes are shown as standard / Carronite. You only need the end panel if one end of the bath is open, as in a corner layout; a bath fitted into an alcove between two walls needs the front panel alone.

Before you order

• Measure the recess at the back, the middle and the front. Walls are rarely square, and the bath has to fit the narrowest measurement.
• Check the width as well as the length. The 800 and 900mm-wide sizes project a long way into the room – check them against doors, radiators and window sills.
• Check the panel height for your size – 515, 540 or 570mm depending on which bath you choose.
• Check the route in. Up to 1892 x 892mm, the bath has to pass through doorways, round landings and up the stairs – measure any tight turn before delivery day.
• Taps, waste and panels are sold separately. A double ended bath needs its taps at the side or wall-mounted rather than at one end.
• Think about the floor and your hot water. Full to capacity these hold between 165 and 350kg of water before anyone gets in – the 1900 x 900mm in particular needs a sound floor and a cylinder that can fill it.

Fitting tips

Install the bath with Carron's installation kit, levelled so the rim sits at the height its panels are made to. Fill the bath with water before running the silicone seal along the walls, so the joint cures with the bath at its heaviest and won't pull away the first time someone gets in.
