Carron Dove 1550 x 950mm Corner Bath – White Gloss (Left & Right Hand)

Carron Dove 1550 x 950mm Corner Bath – White Gloss (Left & Right Hand)

The Carron Dove is an offset corner bath – 1550mm along the long wall and 950mm deep, with a softly curved outer edge sweeping between the two. Unlike a square corner bath it is not symmetrical, so it tucks into a corner while still running most of the length of a wall, which suits a room that has a corner to fill but not the floor space for a full square bath.

At 190 litres it is the most modest of Carron's three corner baths to fill. It comes in left or right hand, and in Carron's standard 5mm acrylic with a 30-year warranty or Carronite with a 40-year warranty. Made in Britain by Carron, whose manufacturing history goes back to 1759.

Left hand or right hand?

Stand facing the corner where the bath will go. On a left hand Dove the long 1550mm side runs to your left; on a right hand it runs to your right. Because the bath is offset rather than symmetrical, the hand is not a detail – the wrong one simply will not fit the corner. Check it against your layout before ordering.

5mm acrylic or Carronite?

Worth thinking about on a corner bath. A corner bath holds a lot of water over a wide unsupported span, so the extra rigidity of Carronite earns its keep more here than on a standard rectangular bath.

Specification

The panel

The Dove takes the 1550 x 540mm corner bath panel (02262 standard, 02263 Carronite), curved to follow the outer edge of the bath. It is sold separately – match the panel finish to the bath finish.

Before you order

• Check the hand. An offset corner bath in the wrong hand cannot be made to fit – see above.
• Measure both walls of the corner, and check the curve clears anything standing near it – a WC, a basin pedestal or a radiator close to the corner will get in the way.
• Check the route in. At 1550mm along one side and 950mm deep, the bath has to pass through doorways, round landings and up the stairs – measure any tight turn before delivery day.
• Taps, waste and panel are sold separately.
• Think about the floor. Full to capacity the Dove holds 190kg of water before anyone gets in, and a corner bath puts that load away from the walls where floors are least supported. If you are in any doubt about the joists, ask a builder before it goes in.

Fitting tips

Install the bath with Carron's installation kit, levelled so the rim sits at 540mm – the height its panel is made to. Fill the bath with water before running the silicone seal along the walls, so the joint cures with the bath at its heaviest. Take particular care getting both wall runs straight: on a corner bath any twist shows up as a gap that is very hard to hide afterwards.
