Kartell K-VIT Minimalist Bottle Trap with 400mm Extension Tube – Chrome (WAS030)

Kartell K-VIT Minimalist Bottle Trap with 400mm Extension Tube – Chrome (WAS030)

A bottle trap is the trap you fit when it will be seen. It does the same job as the plastic U-bend hidden inside a vanity unit — holding a plug of water that stops drain smells coming back up — but in polished chrome, and shaped to look like it belongs there.

Where you need one

Under a wall-hung basin, a countertop bowl on an open washstand, or a semi-pedestal basin — anywhere the pipework below the basin is on show. A white plastic trap under a nice basin undoes the basin.

The extension tube is the horizontal pipe running back to the wall. It is included, and it cuts to length on site, so the trap works whatever the distance from basin to wall — the measurement that varies most and is hardest to predict before fitting.

This is the minimalist shape: a slimmer, straighter body than the traditional bottle trap, with a 400mm extension tube — long enough for a basin set well forward of the wall, which a standard trap will not reach.

It is the one to choose under a wall-hung basin or a countertop bowl where you want the pipework to recede rather than be a feature. It is also the cheapest of the three.

The round bottom version is the more traditional shape, and there is a square version for angular bathrooms.

Finish and looking after it

Polished chrome needs nothing more than a wipe with a soft damp cloth. Keep abrasive cleaners and strong limescale removers away from it — both cut through the plating.
