Kartell K-VIT Verve Mini Mono Basin Mixer with Click Waste – Chrome (TAP261VE)

Kartell K-VIT Verve Mini Mono Basin Mixer with Click Waste – Chrome (TAP261VE)

The Kartell K-VIT Verve range is slim, round and understated — a narrow cylindrical body with a single lever, in polished chrome. Kartell describe it as "modest yet stylish", which is fair: it is the range for a bathroom where you want the taps to sit quietly rather than draw the eye.

This is the mini mono basin mixer, and it comes complete with a clicker waste.

When to choose the mini

A mini basin mixer is shorter in the body and spout than a standard one. It suits a cloakroom basin, a compact vanity unit, or any basin where a full-size tap looks oversized — which is exactly what Kartell have in mind when they describe it as ideal for small cloakroom spaces.

At 0.67kg this is one of the smallest taps in the Kartell brassware catalogue. On a small cloakroom basin that's exactly right; on anything approaching full size it will look lost.

The trade-off is reach: a shorter spout lands water closer to the back of the bowl. As a rule, if the basin is under about 450mm wide the mini is the better proportion; above that, use the standard Verve mono basin mixer.

Water pressure

Kartell rate this tap suitable for low water pressure systems — it will run from as little as 0.2 bar. That means it works on a gravity-fed tank and cylinder as well as on mains, combi or unvented pressure.

That matters more here than on most taps: a cloakroom is often the furthest point from the hot cylinder and the worst-served tap in the house.

Living with it

The ceramic disc cartridge with quarter-turn operation is smooth and far less prone to dripping than a washer tap. A plain round chrome body is the easiest thing in a bathroom to keep clean — no corners for limescale to collect in.

Verve or Mirage?

Worth addressing, because these two ranges are very close. Both are slim round chrome single-lever designs and the weights are identical. The difference is the shape of the spout and the lever, which is a matter of taste rather than function — pick on looks, not on quality; there is nothing between them.

This mini is identical in weight to the Mirage mini at 0.67kg.
