Kartell K-VIT Mirage Mini Mono Basin Mixer Chrome (TAP251MI)

The Kartell K-VIT Mirage range is slim, round and understated — a narrow cylindrical body with a single lever, in polished chrome. This is the mini mono basin mixer, and it comes complete with a clicker waste.

When to choose the mini

A mini basin mixer is shorter in the body and spout than a standard one. It suits a cloakroom basin, a compact vanity unit, or any basin where a full-size tap looks oversized.

Mirage is already the slimmest range Kartell make, so the mini is genuinely small — 0.67kg, the lightest tap in the whole brassware catalogue. On a small cloakroom basin that's exactly right. On anything approaching full size it will look lost.

The trade-off is reach: a shorter spout lands water closer to the back of the bowl. As a rule, if the basin is under about 450mm wide the mini is the better proportion; above that, use the standard Mirage mono basin mixer.

Water pressure

Suitable for low pressure systems — useful in older properties, where a cloakroom is often the furthest point from the hot cylinder and the worst-served tap in the house.

Living with it

The ceramic disc cartridge with quarter-turn operation is smooth and far less prone to dripping than a washer tap. A plain round chrome body is the easiest thing in a bathroom to keep clean.
