The AKW 1200 Series flat end stainless steel grab rail combines a stainless steel tube with a clean white finish, giving a neat, practical handhold for the bathroom, toilet or shower area. It is a 25mm diameter straight rail with flat fixing ends, available in 305mm, 445mm and 610mm lengths.

Stainless steel resists rust far better than ordinary mild steel, making this a sensible upgrade for wet areas while keeping the familiar white look that blends in with white sanitaryware and tiles.

Choosing the right length

Use the 305mm rail where space is tight, for example beside a basin or door. The 445mm rail is a good all-rounder beside a toilet or bath, and the 610mm rail gives a longer grip for getting in and out of a shower or bath. Rails can be fitted horizontally, vertically or at an angle depending on how the user moves.

Installation notes

A grab rail is only as strong as the wall it is fixed to. Always use fixings suited to the wall type (solid masonry, timber stud or plasterboard with noggins or a pattress board) and fit the rail with every fixing point used. Wall fixings are not normally supplied, because the right fixing depends on your wall. Check for hidden pipes and cables before drilling. Where a rail is being fitted for a specific person, an occupational therapist can advise on the best height and position.
