AKW 2000 Series Fold Up Shower Seat – Compact, Standard or Back & Arms

AKW 2000 Series Fold Up Shower Seat – Compact, Standard or Back & Arms

The AKW 2000 Series fold up shower seat is a lightweight, space-saving wall-mounted seat designed for smaller shower enclosures and bathrooms where space is tight. The rust-proof aluminium frame has a front support leg and safely supports users up to 25 stone (158kg), and the seat folds flat to the wall when it is not needed so the shower stays clear for everyone else. It is tested to BS EN 12727.

Choose the Compact seat for the smallest enclosures, the Standard seat for a little more room, or the Standard seat with back and folding arms for users who need extra support to sit and stand. Padding options include grey or blue seat pads, and on the back-and-arms models grey, blue, mid grey or dark blue padding – contrasting colours that make the seat clearly visible.

How to choose

Compact or Standard? Both share the same frame design and load rating; the Compact seat is smaller for tight shower trays and narrow enclosures, while the Standard seat gives a larger sitting area.

With back and arms. The back gives comfortable support, and the individually folding arms help with sitting down, standing up and stability while washing. Choose bare seats with coloured padded arms, or fully padded seat, back and arms.

Hanging bracket versions (02131P and 02231P) are the fully padded back-and-arms seat supplied with a hanging bracket, so the seat can be hung from a suitable rail rather than fixed permanently – useful where a seat is shared between bathrooms. Please call us to check rail compatibility before ordering.

Spare pads, back pads, leg kits and the hanging rail bracket are on our AKW 2000 Series shower seat spare parts page.

Installation notes

A wall-mounted shower seat is only as safe as the wall it is fixed to. Fit it to a solid masonry wall, or to a stud wall that has been properly reinforced with a pattress board or noggins, using fixings suited to the wall and the load. Wall fixings are not normally supplied, because the correct fixing depends on your wall. Check for hidden pipes and cables before drilling, and follow AKW's fitting instructions. Where the seat is being fitted for a specific person, an occupational therapist can advise on the best seat height and position.
