The AKW Ambulant Doc M Toilet Pack (AKW Doc M Pack 10) is for ambulant accessible cubicles – the wider cubicles in a bank of toilets intended for people who can walk but need support, such as older people, those using sticks or crutches, or anyone with limited strength or balance. It contains a raised-height rimless Navlin close coupled toilet with a 650mm projection, a lever flush, fluted grab rails and contrasting clothes hooks.

Approved Document M of the Building Regulations sets out what an accessible toilet in a public or commercial building needs: a raised-height pan, a lever flush on the transfer side, grab rails in set positions and contrasting fittings that are easy to see. Buying the parts as one AKW pack means everything is designed to work together and you are not left hunting for missing pieces on site. Ambulant or wheelchair-accessible? An ambulant cubicle is not a replacement for a wheelchair-accessible toilet – it supplements one. Installation notes

• Fit the rails and clothes hooks in the positions shown on AKW's specification sheet – the hooks sit at 1050mm and 1400mm above the finished floor.
• Fit the flush lever on the side of the cistern furthest from the wall.
• Grab rails must be fixed to walls strong enough to take the load; use fixings suited to the wall construction.

Does the ambulant pack include a basin?

No – the pack covers the toilet, grab rails and clothes hooks only. If your cubicle needs a basin, add one separately.

Is there a fold-up rail?

No – this pack uses fixed straight rails. Fold-up support rails come with AKW's wheelchair-accessible Doc M packs.

Is this pack fully compliant with Approved Document M?

The toilet and rails are designed to meet Doc M guidance for ambulant cubicles when they are installed in the positions shown on AKW's specification sheet. Final compliance also depends on the cubicle size and door, so always follow the drawing and check with your building control officer.

Do I need to buy anything else?

You will need fixings suitable for your wall type and your normal plumbing connections. Grab rails must be fitted to walls that can take the load.
