Description
The AKW Braddan Shower Tray with Upward Pumped Waste solves the one problem that stops most level-access shower installs: an unbreachable floor.
Where a concrete slab can't be cut, or where there is simply nothing below the tray to run a trap into, a conventional gravity waste is impossible. This version of the Braddan has a factory-fitted upward discharge pump that sits entirely within the 40mm tray depth and pushes waste water upwards into a 15mm JG Speedfit outlet. Nothing at all sits below tray level.
Available in 24 sizes from 800 x 800mm to 1800 x 900mm. Lifetime guarantee from AKW.
Key features & benefits
- Nothing below tray level — the whole waste assembly is contained within the tray, so no floor breaching is needed.
- Factory-fitted — supplied assembled and tested, not a pump you retrofit on site.
- 15mm JG Speedfit outlet for quick, push-fit connection.
- Opens for easy cleaning and rodding, so servicing does not mean lifting the tray.
- Only 40mm high, with a slip-resistant textured surface.
- Central, non-handed waste — one tray suits left- or right-handed layouts, corner or alcove.
- 35mm fall to the waste for quick drainage.
- No under-tray foaming required.
- Supplied with tiling upstands for a watertight tray-to-tile joint.
- 1800mm trays include a trim-to-length kit and can be cut to 1500mm (alcove installations only once trimmed).
- Ramp kits available separately in 20mm and 40mm for wheelchair access.
Do you need the pumped version?
Choose this tray when the floor cannot be breached — typically a solid concrete slab, a ground-floor flat, or an upper floor where the ceiling below cannot be opened up.
If you can run a gravity fall to the stack, the standard AKW Braddan tray is considerably cheaper and needs no power supply. It also offers a loose PW50 pumped waste option, which is a different thing: that discharges downwards and still needs depth below the tray. Only the factory-fitted upward discharge keeps everything above floor level.
An upward pumped waste needs a fused spur. Please check the installation instructions and have the electrical connection made by a qualified electrician.

Frequently asked questions
Does anything sit below the tray? No. That is the entire point of this version — the pump and waste are contained within the 40mm tray depth.
Does it need an electrical supply? Yes, a fused spur, connected by a qualified electrician.
Is the waste included? Yes. It is factory fitted, so no separate waste is needed or can be substituted.
Can I get a level threshold on a concrete floor? With this tray it installs as a low step-in rather than a full level access, since the slab is not recessed. Ramp kits are available to ease wheelchair access.
Can it be cut down? Only the 1800mm lengths, using the supplied trim-to-length kit, down to 1500mm and for alcove installations only.
