AKW Contemporary Stainless Steel Doc M Toilet Pack – Close Coupled or Low Level
The AKW Contemporary Doc M Toilet Pack gives an accessible toilet a sleeker, more modern finish. Instead of fluted plastic rails it comes with polished stainless steel grab rails and a stainless steel fold-up support rail, alongside a raised-height rimless Navlin toilet with lever flush, a 400mm finger rinse basin and a monobloc spray mixer tap.
Choose a close coupled toilet with a 750mm projection (AKW Doc M Pack 7) or a low-level back-to-wall toilet with wall-mounted cistern, flush pipe and padded back rest (AKW Doc M Pack 8).
Key features & benefits
- Stainless steel grab rails with a durable coating – four 600mm and one 450mm rails rated to 150kg (23.5 stone).
- Stainless steel fold-up support rail rated to 200kg (30 stone), with adjustable leg and optional toilet roll holder.
- Raised-height rimless toilet – 480mm high with seat fitted, easy to clean and hygienic.
- Lever flush cistern with screw-down lid and 3/6 litre dual flush, usable with a hand, closed fist or elbow.
- Ergonomic toilet seat with seat lugs and soft-close hinges (with lid on the close coupled pack; the low-level pack has a seat without lid and a padded back rest).
- 400mm finger rinse basin with two tap holes, blanking plug and chrome monobloc spray mixer tap with lever handle.
- Lifetime guarantee on the sanitaryware, toilet seat, brassware and grab rails.
Choosing your pack
Who is a Doc M pack for? Approved Document M of the Building Regulations sets out what an accessible toilet in a public or commercial building needs: a raised-height pan, a lever flush on the transfer side, grab rails in set positions, a hand rinse basin within reach of the toilet and contrasting fittings that are easy to see. Buying the parts as one AKW pack means everything is designed to work together and you are not left hunting for missing pieces on site. It suits offices, shops, schools, surgeries, hotels, care homes and community buildings.
Why stainless? Stainless rails suit hotels, offices and new-build schemes where a cleaner, less clinical look is wanted, and they carry a higher weight rating than uPVC rails. Make sure your wall colour gives enough contrast for clear visibility.
Close coupled or low level? A low-level cistern sits on the wall above a back-to-wall pan and is joined by a flush pipe. Because the cistern is higher, Doc M asks for a padded back rest – the low-level pack includes one – and a colostomy bag changing shelf at 950mm if fitted.
Installation notes
- Fit the rails, hooks, basin and any accessories at the heights shown on AKW's specification sheet – for example, the basin must not project more than 250mm from the wall, and clothes hooks sit at 1050mm and 1400mm above the finished floor.
- Fit the flush lever on the side of the cistern furthest from the wall (the transfer side).
- Grab rails must be fixed to walls strong enough to take the load; use fixings suited to the wall construction.

Frequently asked questions
Does this pack include a thermostatic tap?
No – it has a monobloc spray mixer. If you need scald protection, fit a TMV3 valve or choose an AKW Standard Doc M pack with the TMV3 tap option.
Are the rails suitable for heavy users?
The straight stainless rails are rated to 150kg (23.5 stone) and the fold-up rail to 200kg (30 stone) when fitted to suitable walls.
Is this pack fully compliant with Approved Document M?
The sanitaryware, rails and tap are designed to meet Doc M guidance when they are installed in the positions shown on AKW's specification sheet. Final compliance also depends on the room size, door and layout, so always follow the drawing and check with your building control officer.
Do I need to buy anything else?
You will need fixings suitable for your wall type, a waste and trap for the basin and your normal plumbing connections. Grab rails must be fitted to walls that can take the load.
