Description

AKW Isolating Valves 15mm & 22mm – Standard, Full Bore or Elbow

AKW isolating valves let you shut off the water to a single tap, shower, toilet cistern or appliance for maintenance, without turning off the whole supply. They are opened and closed with a flat-head screwdriver, so they cannot be knocked off by accident, and they are often specified on appliance feeds.

Choose standard 15mm valves for cisterns and taps, full bore valves where maximum flow matters – such as feeds to showers and bath fillers – or the isolating elbow to turn a corner and isolate in one fitting. A 22mm full flow valve is available for main and bath feeds.

Key features & benefits

  • Isolate one outlet without shutting off the whole system
  • Operated with a flat-head screwdriver
  • Compression ends for heat-free fitting
  • Full bore versions keep flow rates high for showers and bath fillers
  • Isolating elbow combines a 90° turn and a valve
  • 15mm valves in packs of 5

Choosing a valve

An isolating valve on the feed to each tap, cistern, shower or appliance means it can be serviced easily. Use standard valves for cisterns and basin taps, and full bore valves on shower and bath feeds, where a restricted waterway would reduce performance. Many electric and care shower manufacturers specify a full bore valve on the supply – check the shower instructions. The elbow version saves space where the pipe turns.

Why buy your fittings with your bathroom?

Ordering the pipe, fittings and connectors alongside your AKW bathroom products means everything arrives together and the installer is not held up by a missing part. Most fittings come in handy trade pack sizes, so there are spares left in the toolbox for the next job.

Frequently asked questions

What is a full bore valve?

A valve with a waterway the same size as the pipe, so it does not restrict flow – ideal for showers.

How do I turn the valve off?

Turn the slot a quarter turn with a flat-head screwdriver so it sits across the pipe.

Do I need one for an electric shower?

Many electric shower manufacturers recommend an isolating valve on the supply – check your shower instructions.
