AKW Larenco Care Half Height Bi-Fold Shower Door – Alcove or Corner, Choice of Size

AKW Larenco Care Half Height Bi-Fold Shower Door – Alcove or Corner, Choice of Size

The AKW Larenco Care Half Height Bi-Fold Shower Door is a half-height bi-fold glass door for seated and carer-assisted showering. It folds back neatly as it opens, so it needs very little clearance, and the low screen lets a carer help from outside the shower while the water stays inside — keeping the carer and the floor dry.

Larenco is AKW's modular accessible shower screen system, designed for people of all abilities. This listing brings every Larenco half height Care bi-fold door configuration together in one place: 11 alcove widths from 800mm up to 1800mm (400 + 1000 + 400), and 37 corner combinations with a fixed side panel or a matching second door. Choose your layout, the front width and the side panel or second door below.

Key features & benefits

• Bi-fold action — folds back on itself so it needs little clearance and gives a wide, clear entrance for a shower chair.
• Half height for carers — a carer can assist comfortably from outside the shower and stay dry.
• 6mm clear toughened safety glass with AKW's StayClear easy-clean coating, which helps the glass look clean for longer.
• Magnetic cushion seals for excellent water containment.
• Partially framed, contemporary design with bright chrome aluminium profiles.
• Non-handed / reversible — can be fitted to open left or right.
• Generous profile adjustment on each side for quick installation, with optional compensators for out-of-true or wide walls.
• Suits wet floors, wet floor formers and shower trays, finished with tiles or slip-resistant safety flooring such as Altro.
• Modular system — alcove, corner and extended configurations to suit almost any showering space.
• Lifetime guarantee from AKW.

How to choose your Larenco configuration

1. Layout. Choose Alcove if the shower area has walls on three sides and the screen closes the open front. Choose Corner if there are walls on two sides only — the door goes across the front and a fixed side panel (or a second door) closes the open side.

2. Front width. Measure the opening wall to wall, at the top, middle and bottom, and use the smallest figure. Standard widths are a single door; extended widths such as 1200mm (400 + 800) combine the door with one or two fixed 400mm (or 420mm) inline panels to span a wider opening.

3. Side panel or second door. For a corner layout, measure the depth of the shower area from the back wall to the front line of the screen and choose the matching side panel. A second door option gives a corner entry with doors on both open sides, for the widest possible access.

Who is it for? Larenco is widely used in accessible and adapted bathrooms, care homes, assisted living and by local authorities and housing associations — and equally in family homes that want a stylish, easy-access wet room.

• Not suitable for Multi Spec or pipe duct shower trays.
• Each side has profile adjustment; for out-of-true or wider walls, add the appropriate Larenco compensator (sold separately).
• Professional installation is recommended.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose a half height screen? A 900mm high screen lets a carer stand outside the shower and reach over the glass to help, while the water stays inside. It is ideal for seated showering on a shower seat or wheeled shower chair.

Is the Larenco screen suitable for a wet room? Yes. Larenco screens are designed for wet floors and wet floor formers as well as shower trays, with tiled or slip-resistant safety flooring. They are not suitable for Multi Spec or pipe duct trays.

Is it left or right handed? Larenco doors are non-handed, so the same screen can be fitted to open either way. Decide which wall you want the hinge on when you install it.

What does “Extended” mean, e.g. 1200mm (400 + 800)? Extended widths add one or two 400mm (or 420mm) fixed inline panels beside the door, so the screen can span a wider opening. A 1200mm (400 + 800) screen is an 800mm door with a 400mm fixed panel.

What if my walls are not straight? Each screen has profile adjustment on both sides. For walls that are badly out of true, or wider than the adjustment allows, AKW makes Larenco compensators — ask us and we will help you choose the right one.
