AKW Marlbrook wall panels are a hard-wearing, grout-free alternative to tiles, designed for bathroom adaptations where durability really matters. Each 12mm square-edged panel has a structural WPS plywood core with a high-pressure laminate (HPL) finish on both faces, giving a water- and scratch-resistant surface that is quick to wipe clean.

Panels are 2440mm long and come in four widths – 300mm, 600mm, 900mm and 1220mm – plus a handy 900mm + 300mm kit. Six finishes are available: Black Marble, Matt Grey, Quartz, Savannah, White Gloss and White Marble. Marlbrook carries AKW's 35-year warranty.

Choosing sizes and planning your walls

Measure the width of each wall to be panelled and combine widths to cover it with as few joints as possible. For example, a 1200mm wall can take one 1220mm panel trimmed to size, or a 900mm and a 300mm panel – which is exactly what the 900mm + 300mm kit gives you. The 300mm and 600mm widths are ideal for returns, window reveals and boxing-in.

Panels are joined and finished with Marlbrook profiles: H-sections between panels, internal and external corners, radiused or square end caps for exposed edges, and bottom profiles to meet a shower tray, bath, tiles or vinyl safety flooring. Profiles come in aluminium or white PVC and are sold separately.

For a high-contrast accessible bathroom, choose a panel colour that contrasts clearly with the floor and with grab rails – Matt Grey or Black Marble with white sanitaryware works well. Need help with a parts list? Call 0333 772 4162 with your wall sizes.

Installation notes

• Fit to sound, flat walls or directly over existing tiles; use battens if the wall is uneven.
• Bond with a suitable wall panel adhesive and seal all joints and profiles with silicone.
• Cover every exposed edge with a Marlbrook profile.
• Use the bottom-to-tray, bottom-to-tile or bottom-to-vinyl profile to finish the base of the wall.
