Lift a plain white tiled bathroom with an AKW mosaic border tile. Each 300 x 300 x 8mm sheet is made up of small glossy mosaic pieces on a mesh backing, so you can run a decorative band at dado height, frame a mirror or create a feature panel in the shower.

Three colourways are available – Blue, Grey and Marble – each designed to sit alongside white wall tiles such as AKW's Bumpy White or Flat Gloss White.

Planning a mosaic border

Measure the length of the border you want to create and divide by 300mm to find the number of sheets. Each sheet can be cut into strips along the mesh, so a 300mm sheet can give several narrow border strips. Allow around 10% extra for cuts.

For a border between existing tiles, choose a sheet thickness close to your tiles (these are 8mm) and use a white or grey grout to suit the colourway. Not sure which colour will work? Call 0333 772 4162.

A tiling checklist. For a long-lasting tiled bathroom, start with a flat, sound base – tile backer board fixed with backer washers and screws is ideal on stud walls and where old plaster is poor. Fix ceramic wall tiles with a suitable adhesive such as Bond it Supergrip, keep joints even with tile spacers, and allow the adhesive to dry fully before grouting with Steri-Grout. Finish exposed edges with a tile trim and use a tile-to-vinyl transition strip where tiles meet safety flooring.

Installation notes

• Fix with a ceramic wall tile adhesive and grout with a bathroom grout.
• Cut through the mesh backing with a sharp craft knife or scissors.
• Use tile spacers to keep the border in line with the surrounding tiles.
