AKW Onyx Fold Up Shower Seat – Standard, Adjustable Leg or Compact

AKW Onyx Fold Up Shower Seat – Standard, Adjustable Leg or Compact

The AKW Onyx fold up shower seat is the most contemporary seat in AKW's range – an accessible shower seat that looks at home in a stylish modern bathroom. A shaped, ergonomic seat with a matt finish and chrome accents sits on a durable aluminium leg, rated to support users up to 31.5 stone (200kg). A soft-close mechanism lets the seat fold up gently, and when folded it projects just 78mm from the wall.

Choose cool white or bold black, then pick the seat that fits your space: the standard fold up seat, the seat with an adjustable leg (set between 421mm and 600mm during installation), or the compact seat for smaller bathrooms. Each is available with a back rest and two folding arms, and the back and arms kit can also be bought on its own to add to an existing Onyx seat.

How to choose

Fold Up Seat – standard seat height 470mm. Seat with Adjustable Leg – the leg is set during installation anywhere from 421mm to 600mm, ideal when the user needs a higher or lower seat than standard. Compact Seat – a smaller 383 x 370mm seat at 480mm high for bathrooms where space is limited. Add Back & Arms for users who need support to sit upright or something to push up from. If you already have an Onyx seat, the Back & Arms Kit Only adds them later (white RAL 9003 or black RAL 7021).

The Onyx seat matches the rest of the Onyx range, including the Onyx Exclusif shower tray and Onyx 2 grab rails.

Installation notes

A wall-mounted shower seat is only as safe as the wall it is fixed to. Fit it to a solid masonry wall, or to a stud wall that has been properly reinforced with a pattress board or noggins, using fixings suited to the wall and the load. Wall fixings are not normally supplied, because the correct fixing depends on your wall. Check for hidden pipes and cables before drilling, and follow AKW's fitting instructions. Where the seat is being fitted for a specific person, an occupational therapist can advise on the best seat height and position.
