AKW Option Q Half Height Carer Shower Screen Set for Shower Trays – Choice of Size & Handing, 750mm High

AKW Option Q Half Height Carer Shower Screen Set for Shower Trays – Choice of Size & Handing, 750mm High

The AKW Option Q half height carer shower screen set is designed for AKW shower trays. The low screens contain the spray around the person showering while a carer stands outside, reaches over and helps – so the carer stays dry and the user stays safe and supported.

Option Q is a handed 750mm high screen set with frosted shatterproof PET panels and doors on locking two-way hinges. Choose 700 x 1300mm or 700 x 1420mm to match your tray, and left or right handing.

• Unique locking rising butt two-way hinges, with hinges and caps in hardwearing Nylon 6
• High quality water seals to reduce water escaping from the showering area
• 750mm high screens
• Designed to fit AKW shower trays

How to choose the right screen set

Size: the size is the width x depth of the showering area the screens enclose – available in 700 x 1300mm and 700 x 1420mm. Match it to your AKW shower tray and measure wall to wall before ordering.

Handing: the set is made in left hand and right hand versions to suit the layout of your room. Stand outside the shower looking in to work out which side the doors need to be on – if you are unsure, send us a sketch or call us and we will confirm the handing for you.

These screens are ideal for care homes, hospitals, supported living and family homes where someone needs help to shower – the user can shower seated or standing while the carer stays outside the spray.

Important fitting notes

• AKW advise that power showers should not be used with AKW trays and screens, and that only AKW screens are used with AKW trays so the water seals are not compromised.
• The bottom door seals are water barriers, not watertight seals. If you also use a shower curtain, make sure it is long enough to protect the seals.

Installation

The screen set is supplied as a kit ready for a competent fitter to install. The frames fix to the walls and the doors hang on two-way rising butt hinges; drop rods are 600mm long where supplied. Fit onto a level, correctly installed AKW shower tray of the matching size.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose half height screens rather than a full enclosure?

Half height screens let a carer stand outside the shower, reach over and help the person showering without getting soaked – while still keeping most of the water inside the showering area.

Can I use a power shower with these screens?

AKW advise that power showers should not be used with their trays and screens. An electric care shower or thermostatic mixer shower is the usual choice – call us on 0333 772 4162 for advice.

Will the screens fit a tray from another manufacturer?

AKW recommend fitting their screens to AKW shower trays only, as other trays may compromise the water seals.

Which handing do I need?

Stand outside the shower looking in and note which side the doors need to be on. If you are still unsure, call us on 0333 772 4162 and we will help.
