AKW Padded Toilet Back Rest Rail – White, Grey or Blue

AKW Padded Toilet Back Rest Rail – White, Grey or Blue

The AKW padded toilet back rest rail gives a comfortable, supportive back rest behind a toilet giving the user something secure to lean against while using the toilet. A wall-mounted rail carries a soft PU (polyurethane) padded cushion that is easy to wipe clean. Choose a white, grey or blue pad – grey and blue give visual contrast against a white wall.

Back rests are a common part of accessible toilet installations in public buildings, care homes and adapted homes, and are fitted where the toilet is set away from the wall so the user has nothing to lean on.

Key features & benefits

• Wall mounted back rest rail with PU padded cushion
• Soft, wipe-clean padding
• White, grey or blue
• Gives back support when the toilet is set forward from the wall
• Suitable for accessible toilets, care homes and home adaptations

Choosing and positioning

Choose a colour to suit the room – white for a discreet look, grey or blue to contrast with the wall. The back rest should be positioned so the pad sits comfortably behind the user's lower back when seated; the exact height depends on the toilet and the user. Pair it with an AKW 1800 Series fold up toilet support rail for full support at the toilet.

Installation notes

A back rest is only as strong as the wall it is fixed to. Always use fixings suited to the wall type (solid masonry, timber stud or plasterboard with noggins or a pattress board) and use every fixing point. Wall fixings are not normally supplied, because the right fixing depends on your wall. Check for hidden pipes and cables before drilling. Where a back rest is being fitted for a specific person, an occupational therapist can advise on the best height and position.
