AKW Recessed Shower Niche – 2 Shelf, 3 Shelf or Full Height, White or Black
An AKW recessed shower niche gives you built-in storage inside the shower without shelves or caddies sticking out from the wall. Each niche is a single moulded piece of tough SMC that sits into the wall and is finished flush with your wall panels or tiles.
Choose a 2-shelf niche (687 x 406mm), a 3-shelf niche (991 x 406mm) or a full-height 3-shelf niche (1900 x 356mm). The 2- and 3-shelf niches come in gloss white; the full-height niche is available in gloss white or matt black.

Choosing and positioning your niche
Size. The 2-shelf niche suits a compact shower; the 3-shelf gives more storage at the same width; the full-height niche runs almost floor to ceiling and keeps items at several heights – useful in a family or accessible bathroom where some users shower seated and others standing.
Wall depth. The niches are around 90–96mm deep, so you need a stud wall or a recess of at least that depth behind the finished surface. Check for pipes, cables and joists before you cut.
Position. Place the niche on a wall that is not directly in the main spray so toiletries stay drier, and at a height that suits the user – for seated users keep the lowest shelf within easy reach of a shower seat.

Installation notes
- Form an opening in the stud wall or cut a recess to suit the niche, and support it on noggins.
- Seal the niche flange to the wall with a waterproof sealant or tanking before panels or tiles are fitted.
- Finish the wall panels or tiles up to the niche and seal the joint with silicone.

Yes. AKW designs the niches to recess into the wall alongside wall panels or tiles.
How deep is the niche?

No – the shelves slope by 1–2° so water drains off.
Is the black niche available in other sizes?
