The AKW Silverdale Option B half height carer shower screen set brings the Silverdale finish to the Option B layout for a 1420 x 700mm AKW shower tray. At 900mm high the screens hold back the spray and give extra privacy, while a carer can still stand outside and reach in to help.

The set has frosted shatterproof PET panels, locking two-way hinges and an L-shaped curtain rail with white curtains as standard. Simply choose left or right handing.

How to choose the right screen set

Size: the size is the width x depth of the showering area the screens enclose – available in 1420 x 700mm. Match it to the size of your AKW shower tray, and measure the space wall to wall before ordering.

Handing: stand outside the shower looking in. If the open entry side of the enclosure is on your left, choose Left Hand; if it is on your right, choose Right Hand. If you are unsure, send us a sketch or call us and we will confirm the handing for you.

These screens are ideal for care homes, hospitals, supported living and family homes where someone needs help to shower – the user can shower seated or standing while the carer stays outside the spray.

Important fitting notes

• The 1200 x 760mm size is achieved with an extra wide compensator.
• The 1250 x 750mm, 1350 x 750mm, 1470 x 750mm and 1050 x 1050mm sizes are only suitable for AKW Multi Spec / Pipe Duct trays.
• AKW advise that power showers should not be used with AKW trays and screens, and that only AKW screens are used on AKW trays so the water seals are not compromised.
• The bottom door seals are water barriers, not watertight seals. If you also use the shower curtain, make sure it is long enough to protect the seals.

Installation

The screen set is supplied as a complete kit with handles, curtain rail and curtains, ready for a competent fitter to install. The frames fix to the walls, and drop rods (600mm long where supplied) secure the doors. Fit onto a level, correctly installed AKW shower tray of the matching size.

Why choose half height screens rather than a full enclosure?

Half height screens let a carer stand outside the shower, reach over and help the person showering without getting soaked – while still keeping most of the water inside the showering area.

Is a shower curtain included?

Yes. An L-shaped curtain rail and white curtains are supplied as standard so the user's privacy is protected above the screens.

Can I use a power shower with these screens?

AKW advise that power showers should not be used with their trays and screens. An electric care shower or thermostatic mixer shower is the usual choice – call us on 0333 772 4162 for advice.

Will the screens fit a tray from another manufacturer?

AKW recommend fitting their screens to AKW shower trays only, as other trays may compromise the water seals. Some sizes are only for AKW Multi Spec / Pipe Duct trays – see the fitting notes above.
