The AKW SmartCare Plus electric care shower is a push-button thermostatic electric shower designed for accessible bathrooms and care settings, and for the families, carers and occupational therapists who specify them. Closely grouped buttons with raised, contrasting symbols, beeps and LED lights confirm every change, and the shower remembers the last user’s settings so it is ready to go next time.

Choose 8.5kW, 9.5kW or 10.5kW and a white Care Kit with a white, dark blue or mid grey riser rail. Every SmartCare Plus is BEAB Care certified, RNIB tried and tested and DSDC accredited.

Choosing your kit colour and power

The dark blue and mid grey rails give strong colour contrast against light walls, making the rail and handset easy to locate. The all-white kit suits bathrooms where contrast is less important.

The kW rating must suit your cable and fuse: AKW specify 35/40A for 8.5kW, 40/45A for 9.5kW and 45/50A for 10.5kW, plus a 30mA RCD and 50A double-pole isolator. Higher ratings give a better flow in colder months. If you are unsure, ask your electrician or call us on 0333 772 4162.

Installation notes

• Retro-fit footprint fits over most makers’ fixing holes, so re-tiling is rarely needed; stainless-steel fitting plate supplied.
• 6 cable and 8 water entry points with a dual power block for left- or right-hand wiring.
• Hardwired or wireless link to an AKW DigiPump waste pump or the AKW P12 pump for level-access showers.
• Mains cold water supply only; installation by a competent person to BS 7671.

What is RNIB mode?

Can the riser rail take a person’s weight?

Yes – the Care Kit rail is load-bearing to 150kg when fixed to a suitable wall.

Yes. Add the SmartCare Plus Wireless Remote Control (30318) or the SmartCare Remote On/Off Button (30316).
