AKW Standard Low Level Doc M Toilet Pack – Choice of Rail Colour & Tap
The AKW Standard Low Level Doc M Toilet Pack is the low-level alternative to AKW's close coupled pack. It contains everything needed for an accessible toilet that follows Approved Document M: a raised-height, rimless Navlin back-to-wall toilet with a wall-mounted low-level lever flush cistern and flush pipe, a padded back rest, a 400mm finger rinse wash basin, a lever mixer tap and a full set of grab rails including a fold-up support rail.
Choose white or blue fluted grab rails, and a standard monobloc spray mixer tap (AKW Doc M Pack 4) or a TMV3 thermostatic mixer tap (AKW Doc M Pack 6) for built-in scald protection.
Key features & benefits
- Raised-height rimless back-to-wall toilet – 480mm high with the seat fitted to make side transfer easier; the rimless bowl is quick and hygienic to clean.
- Low-level lever flush cistern with flush pipe and screw-down lid – works with a hand, closed fist or elbow, with a 3/6 litre dual flush.
- Padded back rest – required by Doc M where a low-level cistern is used, providing back support for the user.
- Ergonomic toilet seat (without lid) with seat lugs for stability and soft-close hinges.
- Finger rinse wash basin – 400mm wide with two tap holes and a blanking plug, within easy reach of the toilet.
- Choice of tap – chrome monobloc spray mixer, or a TMV3 approved thermostatic mixer to help prevent scalding.
- Full grab rail set – four 600mm and one 450mm fluted uPVC rails (up to 100kg / 15.5 stone) plus a fold-up support rail (up to 200kg / 30 stone) with adjustable leg and optional toilet roll holder.
- Lifetime guarantee on the sanitaryware, toilet seat, brassware and grab rails.
Choosing your pack
Who is a Doc M pack for? Approved Document M of the Building Regulations sets out what an accessible toilet in a public or commercial building needs: a raised-height pan, a lever flush on the transfer side, grab rails in set positions, a hand rinse basin within reach of the toilet and contrasting fittings that are easy to see. Buying the parts as one AKW pack means everything is designed to work together and you are not left hunting for missing pieces on site. It suits offices, shops, schools, surgeries, hotels, care homes and community buildings.
Close coupled or low level? A low-level cistern sits on the wall above a back-to-wall pan and is joined by a flush pipe. Because the cistern is higher, Doc M asks for a padded back rest – this pack includes one – and a colostomy bag changing shelf at 950mm if fitted.
Rail colour: pick the colour that contrasts best with your walls – blue on pale walls, white on darker walls – so the rails are easy to see. Tap: choose the TMV3 thermostatic tap where hot water is not already blended to a safe temperature. Need help? Call 0333 772 4162.
Installation notes
- Fit the rails, hooks, basin and any accessories at the heights shown on AKW's specification sheet – for example, the basin must not project more than 250mm from the wall, and clothes hooks sit at 1050mm and 1400mm above the finished floor.
- Fit the flush lever on the side of the cistern furthest from the wall (the transfer side).
- Grab rails must be fixed to walls strong enough to take the load; use fixings suited to the wall construction.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Pack 4 and Pack 6?
Only the tap. Pack 4 has a monobloc spray mixer; Pack 6 has a TMV3 approved thermostatic mixer.
Why does a low-level pack include a back rest?
With a low-level cistern there is nothing behind the user to lean on, so Doc M asks for a padded back rest to support people who need it.
Is this pack fully compliant with Approved Document M?
The sanitaryware, rails and tap are designed to meet Doc M guidance when they are installed in the positions shown on AKW's specification sheet. Final compliance also depends on the room size, door and layout, so always follow the drawing and check with your building control officer.
Do I need to buy anything else?
You will need fixings suitable for your wall type, a waste and trap for the basin and your normal plumbing connections. Grab rails must be fitted to walls that can take the load.
