The AKW Steel Single Ended Bath is a tough, easy-clean enamelled steel bath with a built-in anti-slip area, made for busy family bathrooms, social housing, rental properties and care settings. Choose from 1700 x 700mm, 1600 x 700mm or 1500 x 700mm, and buy it either as a complete bath and fitting kit (legs, grip handles, waste and overflow) or as the bath only.

The bath is pressed from 1.5mm steel and finished with a 0.3mm white vitreous enamel coat, so it feels solid, resists scratches and copes with frequent cleaning. Two tap holes are pre-drilled at the tap end for a pair of bath taps or a bath shower mixer.

Choosing your steel bath

Size: all three baths are 700mm wide. Measure the length of your bath recess wall to wall and pick the size that fits – 1700mm is the UK standard, while 1600mm and 1500mm suit smaller bathrooms.

With fitting kit or bath only? Most customers should choose "Bath With Fitting Kit": it costs less than buying the parts separately and includes legs, handles, waste and overflow. Choose "Bath Only" if you are replacing a damaged tub and re-using your existing legs and waste, or you already have AKW spares.

What else you need: taps or a bath shower mixer, a bath panel and, if you shower over the bath, a bath shower screen. Installation notes

• Fit the legs and level the bath before connecting the waste – adjust each leg to suit an uneven floor.
• The bath is designed for a panel height of about 510mm, which matches AKW's front and end bath panels.
• Seal the bath to the wall with a good-quality sanitary silicone once it is filled with water, so the seal is made at the bath's loaded position.

Frequently asked questions

Is the bath left or right handed? Neither – it is single ended and non-handed, so the tap end can go at either end of your room.

Are taps included? No. The bath has two pre-drilled tap holes; taps or a bath shower mixer are bought separately.

What does the fitting kit include? Leg assembly, bath grip handles, plug and chain, waste and overflow.

How much water does it hold? To the overflow: 150 litres (1700mm), 138 litres (1600mm) or 126 litres (1500mm).

Can I shower over this bath? Yes. The anti-slip area is at the tap end where you stand, and AKW's curved-top bath shower screens are designed to go with it.

Why choose steel instead of acrylic? Enamelled steel is very rigid, hard-wearing and easy to clean, which makes it popular in rented and social housing.
