The AKW TriForm linear wet room floor former gives you a level access wet room with the clean look of a linear drain instead of a round gulley. At just 22mm thick, it sits flush with the surrounding floor, so there is no step, lip or threshold to trip over – ideal for an accessible bathroom, a care setting or simply a modern walk-in shower.

The former is hand-laid from strong GRP and rated to 254kg (40 stone). Its integral trough can take up to three waste holes, clearing up to 78 litres of water a minute, which makes TriForm a good partner for high-flow mixer showers and drencher heads. It is available in five sizes, as the former on its own, with your choice of gulley waste cover, or as a complete pack.

Choosing your size and waste cover

1. Pick your size

Measure the floor area you want to shower in. TriForm comes in 900 x 900, 1000 x 1000, 1200 x 900, 1200 x 1200 and 1300 x 820mm. If your space is a little smaller, choose the next size up and trim it – it can be cut to within 100mm of the waste. Keep a factory edge at the entrance to the shower where you can.

2. Pick your waste cover

The waste cover sits over the linear drain and is sold separately from the former. Choose it by style and by the thickness of your tile (tile plus adhesive):

• Reversible tile / stainless steel cover – one side takes a strip of your floor tile so the drain all but disappears; flip it over for a solid brushed stainless steel finish.
• Slotted stainless steel cover – a decorative brushed stainless steel grate with slots.
• 6–16mm or 16–25mm – pick the version that matches your tile build-up.

Select Former Only if you already have a cover, or choose the Complete Pack, which AKW supplies as the former with a reversible drain and waste in one code.

3. Remember the waste trap

The gulley cover kits are covers only. Underneath, TriForm works with AKW gravity wastes such as the AKW 19mm Standard Gravity Waste (25125) for shallow joists, as well as the GW50, GW90, LDGW90 and DW90. Call us on 0333 772 4162 if you are not sure which you need.

Installation notes

TriForm suits timber joisted and solid floors on the ground floor or upstairs. The floor around the shower area must be tanked (all AKW tanking kits are compatible) before tiling. Unused waste holes are capped off. Always follow AKW's installation instructions, linked below.

Frequently asked questions

Does the former come with a waste cover? No – the former on its own does not include a cover. Choose one of the four cover kits in the options above, or the Complete Pack.

Which cover do I need for my tiles? Add the thickness of your tile to your adhesive bed. Up to 16mm, choose a 6–16mm cover; from 16mm to 25mm, choose a 16–25mm cover.

Can a wheelchair user use a TriForm wet room? Yes. It gives a fully level, step-free floor and is rated to 254kg (40 stone).

Can I cut it to fit? Yes, to within 100mm of the waste.

Is it suitable for an upstairs bathroom? Yes – the former is self-supporting and the several waste positions help you avoid joists.
