AKW Wooden Slatted Shower Seat – Fold Up Seat or Freestanding Stool

AKW Wooden Slatted Shower Seat – Fold Up Seat or Freestanding Stool

The AKW wooden slatted shower seat brings a warmer, more natural look to an accessible shower room without giving up strength. Both versions use dense-grain, treated rubberwood slats with varnished, profiled edges on a rust-proof stainless steel frame, and both safely support users up to 40 stone (254kg). The slats let water drain away so the seat dries quickly after showering.

Choose the fold up wall mounted seat (04030), which has a front support leg and folds against the wall when not in use – ideal for multi-user bathrooms – or the freestanding stool (05080), which needs no fixing and can be lifted out of the shower when it is not needed.

Seat or stool?

The fold up seat is fixed to the wall at a height set during installation (390–640mm) and is always there when needed, but out of the way when folded. Seat size is 442mm wide by 478mm deep. The stool is 555mm wide by 372mm deep, adjusts from 410mm to 535mm in 25mm steps, and can be moved – useful where the shower is shared with people who prefer to stand, or where a seat cannot be wall-fixed.

Installation notes

A wall-mounted shower seat is only as safe as the wall it is fixed to. Fit it to a solid masonry wall, or to a stud wall that has been properly reinforced with a pattress board or noggins, using fixings suited to the wall and the load. Wall fixings are not normally supplied, because the correct fixing depends on your wall. Check for hidden pipes and cables before drilling, and follow AKW's fitting instructions. Where the seat is being fitted for a specific person, an occupational therapist can advise on the best seat height and position.

What weight will it take?

Both versions are rated to 40 stone (254kg).

Can the height be adjusted?
