Sold by the box – 2 tiles per box, covering around 1.44m². Each 600x1200mm tile is 0.72m², so a box works out at roughly £77.22 per m² (£55.60 a tile). We only supply full boxes.

Black onyx with fine, lighter veins, in a natural matt finish that keeps the surface soft and deep rather than mirror-like. Cape May Black reads as dark marble from a distance and reveals its onyx movement close up. It makes pale sanitaryware and brass fittings stand out.

A large 600x1200mm tile with two to a box. On a floor it gives a dramatic, almost seamless dark surface for a bathroom, kitchen or ground-floor living room; on a feature wall it frames a basin or bath. Fewer joints keep the black uninterrupted.

The natural finish is slip-resistant, rated PTV36+, so this is the version to use on floors. Pair it with the polished black Cape May tile on walls for a glossy contrast. Porcelain, for walls and floors indoors.

Working out how many boxes

Measure the wall or floor in square metres, add 10% for cuts and breakages, divide by 1.44 and round up to the next whole box. Order everything you need in one go – shade can vary a little between production batches, and buying all your boxes together keeps the whole area from the same run.

Fitting notes

Use full-bed flexible porcelain adhesive on a flat, primed floor or wall, back-buttering each tile, with a levelling system on the long joints. Keep a 2 to 3mm gap and use a black or anthracite grout; pale adhesive in the joints shows on a dark tile, so clean them out as you go. Lift with two people and cut on a wet bench saw.
