Carron Profile Double Ended Bath – White Gloss (All Sizes)

Carron Profile Double Ended Bath – White Gloss (All Sizes)

The Carron Profile Double Ended has both ends shaped to lie back against, with the waste in the middle – so you can bathe facing whichever way suits the room, or share it. It comes in seven sizes, from 1600 x 700mm up to 1800 x 700mm, including wider 750 and 800mm options and in-between 1650 and 1750mm lengths.

Every size comes in two finishes: Carron's standard 5mm acrylic, with a 30-year warranty, or Carronite, Carron's reinforced finish, with a 40-year warranty. Both are made in Britain by Carron, whose manufacturing history goes back to 1759.

Key features

• Double ended – central waste, with both ends shaped to lie back against
• Seven sizes – 1600 to 1800mm long, 700, 750 or 800mm wide
• 188 to 236 litres, 410mm deep throughout
• Two finishes – 5mm acrylic or Carronite
• Fully encapsulated baseboard and timber reinforcement under the rim for strength when bathing or showering
• Made in Britain, with a 30 or 40-year warranty depending on finish

5mm acrylic or Carronite?

Each size is the same shape in either finish. Carronite is the one to choose if you want the extra rigidity – useful if the bath will double as a shower – and a bath that stays warm for longer.

Choose your size

Most sizes are made about 8mm under their nominal length and width, so they drop into a standard recess with a little room to spare. The 1650 and 1750mm are made to their full length, so measure carefully for those.

Which is the roomiest? The 1750 x 750mm holds the most at 236 litres. The 1800 x 700mm is longer but narrower, so it holds slightly less – it's the one for a long, narrow recess. The 1600 x 800mm is the shortest of the wide sizes, worth considering where length is tight but width isn't.

Panels for the Profile Double Ended

Panels are sold separately, in standard and Carronite finishes. The 700mm-wide sizes sit at 515mm; the 750 and 800mm-wide sizes, and the 1800 x 700mm, sit at 540mm and need the taller panels.

Codes are shown as standard / Carronite. You only need the end panel if one end of the bath is open, as in a corner layout; a bath fitted into an alcove between two walls needs the front panel alone.

Before you order

• Measure the recess at the back, the middle and the front. Walls are rarely square, and the bath has to fit the narrowest measurement.
• Check the panel height for your size. A 515mm panel will not fit a bath that sits at 540mm, and the other way round.
• Check the route in. Up to 1792mm long and 792mm wide, the bath has to pass through doorways, round landings and up the stairs – measure any tight turn before delivery day.
• Taps, waste and panels are sold separately. A double ended bath needs its taps at the side or wall-mounted rather than at one end.
• Think about the floor and your hot water. Full to capacity these hold between 188 and 236kg of water before anyone gets in, and the larger sizes take more hot water to fill.

Fitting tips

Install the bath with Carron's installation kit, levelled so the rim sits at the height its panels are made to – 515mm or 540mm depending on the size. Fill the bath with water before running the silicone seal along the walls, so the joint cures with the bath at its heaviest and won't pull away the first time someone gets in.
