Description

Carron Quantum Single Ended Bath – White Gloss (All Sizes)

The Carron Quantum is a square-lined single ended bath with a wide, flat rim and a deep, roomy bathing well. It comes in eleven sizes – the broadest choice in the Carron range – from a compact 1500 x 700mm up to a 1700 x 900mm holding 318 litres, plus a Super Deep 1575 x 700mm for a proper soak in a short space.

Every size comes in two finishes: Carron's standard 5mm acrylic, with a 30-year warranty, or Carronite, Carron's reinforced finish, with a 40-year warranty. Both are made in Britain by Carron, whose manufacturing history goes back to 1759.

Key features

Eleven sizes – 1500 to 1800mm long, from 700 to 900mm wide
198 to 318 litres, 410 to 480mm deep
Super Deep option – the 1575 x 700mm is 480mm deep, far deeper than a standard bath
Two finishes – 5mm acrylic or Carronite
Fully encapsulated baseboard and timber reinforcement under the rim for strength when bathing or showering
Made in Britain, with a 30 or 40-year warranty depending on finish

5mm acrylic or Carronite?

	5mm Acrylic	Carronite
Shell	5mm sanitary-grade acrylic, GRP reinforcement	5mm cast acrylic, 3-stage precision reinforcement
Baseboard	Fully encapsulated	18mm, fully encapsulated
Rim	Under-rim timber reinforcement	Fully encapsulated timber rim support
Strength and heat	–	30% stronger; holds heat for 30 minutes longer
Warranty	30 years	40 years

Each size is the same shape in either finish. Carronite is the one to choose if you want the extra rigidity – useful if the bath will double as a shower – and a bath that stays warm for longer.

Most sizes are made about 8mm under their nominal length and width, so they drop into a standard recess with a little room to spare. The 1575 and 1650mm are made to their full length, so measure carefully for those.

Two worth singling out. The 1700 x 900mm is the largest bath Carron make in this range at 318 litres – a genuine two-person bath, but it needs a lot of floor space and a lot of hot water. The 1575 x 700mm Super Deep takes a different approach: it is no wider than a standard bath but 480mm deep, so it holds 247 litres in a footprint not much bigger than a 1500mm. It is the one to look at if you want a deep soak in a small bathroom.

Panels for the Quantum

Panels are sold separately, in standard and Carronite finishes. The 700mm-wide sizes sit at 515mm; the wider sizes sit at 540mm and need the taller panels.

The 1575 x 700mm Super Deep has no panels. At 570mm to the rim it is taller than any panel Carron make, so it needs to be tiled in or boxed in instead.

Codes are shown as standard / Carronite. You only need the end panel if one end of the bath is open, as in a corner layout; a bath fitted into an alcove between two walls needs the front panel alone.

Before you order

Measure the recess at the back, the middle and the front. Walls are rarely square, and the bath has to fit the narrowest measurement.
Check the width as well as the length. The 800 and 900mm-wide sizes project a long way into the room – check them against doors, radiators and window sills.
Check the panel height for your size, and remember the Super Deep takes none at all.
Check the route in. Up to 1792 x 892mm, the bath has to pass through doorways, round landings and up the stairs – measure any tight turn before delivery day.
Taps, waste and panels are sold separately.
Think about the floor and your hot water. Full to capacity these hold between 198 and 318kg of water before anyone gets in – the larger sizes need a sound floor and a cylinder or boiler that can fill them.

Fitting tips

Install the bath with Carron's installation kit, levelled so the rim sits at the height its panels are made to – 515mm or 540mm depending on the size. Fill the bath with water before running the silicone seal along the walls, so the joint cures with the bath at its heaviest and won't pull away the first time someone gets in.
