AKW Contour ShowerDec Wet Room Floor Former – Choice of Size & Waste

The Contour ShowerDec Wet Room Floor Former is a strong, dependable base for creating a true level-access wet room or walk-in shower. At just 24mm deep, it keeps floor build-up to a minimum while carrying a tested load of 100 stone (635kg) across its full surface — comfortably enough for assisted showering or high-traffic commercial use.

Available in 12 sizes from 900 x 900mm to 1800 x 900mm, with a choice of nine gravity, stainless and pumped waste options to suit tiled or vinyl floors.

Choosing your waste

Two questions decide this: what is your floor finish, and can you achieve a gravity fall to the stack? Picking a vinyl waste under tiles is the most common and most expensive mistake on a wet room job.

Vinyl safety flooring, gravity drainage

• CTW01 Contour Round 2 Part Gravity Waste — the standard Contour waste, matched to the former.
• TF75 1 Part Gravity Waste (25106) — 75mm water seal, opens for cleaning and rodding.
• TF75 1 Part Bottom Outlet Gravity Waste (25408) — same waste with a bottom outlet, for when the pipe run drops straight down rather than sideways.

Tiled floors, gravity drainage

• Square Chrome 2 Part 50mm Gravity Waste (TSG52T150SSCON) — McAlpine trapped gully with a square chrome top, 50mm water seal.
• SFWA Stainless Steel 2 Part Gravity Waste & GW50 (21318) — stainless dot grate finish with a 50mm seal.

No gravity fall available

• PGTF 15mm Pumped Waste (25101) — pumped gulley discharging through 15mm pipework, vinyl floors.
• PGTF 22mm Silentflow+ Pumped Waste (25414) — AKW's low-noise pumped gulley, 22mm outlet, vinyl floors.
• PGTF Stainless Steel Pumped Waste (LB00104) — the pumped option for tiled floors.

Frequently asked questions

Can I tile over the ShowerDec? Yes. Choose one of the tiled-floor wastes above — a vinyl waste will not seal reliably beneath tile.

Does it need underboarding? No. It fixes directly to the joists with the surrounding floor boarded to the same 24mm height.

Can it be cut down? Yes, on site with a circular saw or jigsaw. Keep cut edges away from the shower entrance.

What if I cannot get a fall to the soil stack? Choose one of the three pumped waste options — 25101 or 25414 for vinyl floors, LB00104 for tiled.

Is a waste included? Only if you select one. "Without Waste" supplies the former on its own.
